EliKuka is Oleg Eliseev (b. 1985), Evgeniy Kukoverov (b. 1984).
The group was founded in September 2007 in Moscow.
The name EliKuka consists of two pieces taken from artists’ surnames and in Russian it sounds as they ‘were eating Cook’ — the famous captain James Cook.
The artists manoeuvre between great contemporary art tradition of extremely commercialization ra and relatively uncommercial countercultural and subcultural languages of youthclubbing and street origin. The thing that seems important for the artists of Elikuka is the perception of outward things by Russian teenager of 1990s era, where socio-political, economic and cultural changes collide with personality formation processes.
Teenage despair conceptualization force punky tricks in EliKuka’s works to gain delicate sensitive cover.
